What is it?

Arete is a summer workshop for underprivileged children in the town of Sarmas, Romania. It is completely free, and the kids participate in fun educational activities.

Main ideas

Experiential Learning: Emphasize hands-on, experiential learning activities that actively engage students. Provide opportunities for them to explore, experiment, and discover knowledge through real-life experiences. Incorporate field trips, outdoor education, project-based learning, and interactive simulations to enhance their understanding and application of concepts.

Social and Emotional Development: Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes social and emotional growth. Implement activities and discussions that develop empathy, self-awareness, conflict resolution, and teamwork. Provide opportunities for students to build positive relationships, practice effective communication, and develop a sense of belonging and responsibility.

Physical Activity and Wellness: Prioritize physical health and wellness by incorporating regular physical activity into the daily schedule. Offer a variety of sports, games, and recreational activities to promote physical fitness, motor skills development, and a healthy lifestyle. Educate students about nutrition, hygiene, and the importance of self-care.

Arts and Creativity: Encourage artistic expression and creativity through visual arts, music, drama, and dance. Provide opportunities for students to explore their talents, experiment with different art forms, and showcase their creativity. Incorporate creative projects and performances into the curriculum to foster imagination, self-expression, and aesthetic appreciation.

Community Engagement: Connect students with the local community and encourage them to become active participants in their surroundings. Collaborate with community organizations, invite guest speakers, and organize community service projects to deepen students' understanding of civic responsibility and foster a sense of social awareness.
